1.2·  Level of difficulty

Medium - Low

2 · What are they used for?

If you want to plan your courses in a structured way and encourage innovation and best practices in the classroom, without worrying about age or your student’s sector, Training materials is for you.

3 · Who are they useful for?

If you are in the Training Sector

Design spectacular didactic modules that improve information retention. Create engaging online courses and certificates for your LMS so that your students can show off what they’ve learned. Prepare your students for real life with more complete and significant training.

If you create Digital Content

Plan your content with mind maps and canvases.  Engage your audience with fun interactive comics.

If you are part of a Business

Make use of the didactic modules to train your team, increasing the productivity of your employees while also improving business performance.

4 · What are the characteristics?

4.1 · TEXT

Layers of content

The textual load will vary depending on the template you choose. The Instructional Resources subcategory will have much less text than the Learning Units. As always, it’s important that you play with visual metaphors to avoid an excessive amount of text.

4.2 · Pages

Depends on the type of creation.

The number of pages will vary between 1 and 20. A concept map or evaluation rubric, for example, could be one page, while a didactic lesson could contain multiple pages

4.3 · INTERACTIVITY

Distribute the information in layers

Interactivity is especially important in didactic lessons, where the connection between pages is helpful for navigating among the content.

You can include buttons and markers to draw your students’ attention to the areas with extra content or make use of invisible areas so that they investigate themselves.

4.4 · ANIMATION

Focus the attention.

Animate the entrance of elements by creating aesthetic effects that enrich your creation. Draw your students’ attention to areas with movement.

Remember to use animation in moderation in order to keep their attention on that which is really important.

4.5 · INTEGRATION

Integrate all kinds of external content.

Make use of embedded elements such as videos, timelines, PDFs, audio, etc. especially in didactic lessons, so that they can enrich your creation and maximize learning.

Have a look at our Help Center to discover step by step guides with some of the content that you will be able to integrate.

4.6 · CONTENT LOAD

Find a balance between images and text.

The content load is average, or even low in some Instructional Resource templates, while it is high in the Didactic Modules. Whenever possible, let images and visual metaphors speak for themselves to capture the attention of your students and therefore make your message more memorable.

4.7 · NAVIGATION MODE

Navigation depending on the type of creation

Standard Navigation:

For didactic modules, allows your students to navigate freely through the content, adapting it to their learning style.

Microsite Navigation:

Necessary for microsites and canvases and the quizzes included within didactic modules. It is also useful in Didactic Modules if you want to be the one who controls the steps between pages. In this case, ensure that the navigation between content is easy. Add an index icon that will allow students to pass through sections in an agile way.

4.8 · BACKGROUNDS

Add static or animated backgrounds.

Combine base backgrounds with canvas backgrounds. Remember that base backgrounds make transitions between pages more visual as well as allow your creation to look amazing on any device.

4.9 · DIMENSIONS

The canvas will be a standard size of 1200 x 675 px.

You can always modify the base canvas size to adapt it to your needs.

4.10 · DISPLAY OPTIONS

Choose the settings that best fit your needs at each moment.

Among the display options, you can keep the share Genially option activated.

Keep the Interactivity Indicator activated if there is a lot of content in layers.

Remember to keep the Full screen option activated so that your creation can be seen in full detail.

5 · Structure

The structure will depend on the type of Training Material that you make.

In the case of didactic modules, you’ll find space to write the objectives, develop various units, insert a quiz, or even a bibliography.

Make use of templates so that your experience in creating material for your classroom is easy and fast.

6 · Share and download

Work collaboratively and share your creation.

Spread your message with style. As always, the options for sharing and downloading your genially will depend on your plan but you can always create and modify your creation from any computer.

It isn’t recommended to download your creation in jpg or pdf when they are didactic modules with a lot of interactivity, although it could be useful for making worksheets.

You can also download in HTML5 in order to maintain the interactivity and animations, however, remember that without a connection to the internet, any embedded content from the web will not be functional (videos, audios, …).

7 · Tricks

Class photograph templates

Create an interactive class photograph to introduce students to each other at the beginning of the year, or as an exciting end of year surprise for your students’ families. They’ll love to look back on it in the future and remember their year.
If you work in the corporate sector, utilize these templates to introduce new employees to the rest of the company, or to have a visual organigram to share with the entire team.
